Motoracing is a dirt bike racing game for Windows PC.

Players of the game Motoracing will find a lot of custom options available to them upon starting Motoracing for the first time. Racers can be named; motocross bikes can be chosen from a large stable of ready for use 'cycles, and colour themes for bikes are also available. There are three options for game play - quick race, career, or new career.

In the quick race mode the player is pitted against 7 racers on the easy racetrack of Lakes Valley. Lots of performance points are up for grabs along the road to winning the race. Similar to the skateboarding simulation games, Motoracing offers jumps, tricks, and even the ability to knock down the opponents in mid-air. On the flip side, they will be able to do the same to the player. As a single or quick race player, motocross stars can engage in Time Attack against the clock or Championship modes. For practice races, the game supports up to 8 laps per session.

Career is a tournament style setting for players who want to learn and build on their skills and styles with tutorial type help along the way as well as fierce competition.

There are four tracks available at any player level. These are West Way, Dirt Arena, Speed Bay, and Snow Ride. Also Lakes Valley when in quick race mode. As players progress in the game, more tracks become unlocked for use including Great Wall, Rock Forest, Red City, and Lost Ruins. Available on the game designer's site are Fun Fair and Sea of Sand, which can be downloaded. Multiplayer support is enabled for Motoracing over the Internet.

Designed by French software developer Delphine, the Delphine Group made three versions of Motoracing going as far back as the mid 1990s. The company was originally headed by Paul de Sennevile and lead designer Paul Cuisset and located in Paris. In 2001 Delphine moved to Saint-Quen along with their subsidiary company Adeline Software. By 2002 Adeline had been removed from Delphine, and was sold to the very short-lived Doki Denki company which went into receivership a year and a half later. In spite of this, the game remains popular among motocross fans and easily available online.

Graphics for Motoracing are good, in 3D and although detail is a little lacking players can still see dust being kicked up from the motocross bike's tires as well as waves on the water of the nearby lakes and oceans players ride alongside. What adds to the experience for many players is the augmentation of fans who will boo and cheer for racers while birds chirp in the background.

Though cheat codes will be required, for those players who like a little extra with their game, hover bikes and hover boards are replacements for bikes. Moreover, a night mode is available.

To play Motoracing requires a Windows PC, 23 MB hard disc space, Windows operating system of Windows 95 or better, DirectX 3 and up, a Pentium 133 MHz processor or greater, and 16MB minimum RAM. Currently all versions of Motoracing can be found for play on the present Windows platforms including those running 64 bit.

Pros

  • Details such as dust from bike tires
  • Lots of tracks
  • A warehouse full of motocross bikes

Cons

  • Although 3D, graphics look dated
